Overview
Under the supervision of clinical staff, the Exercise Physiologist develops, implements, and evaluates the exercise components of the program. This position is shared in the Cardiac and Pulmonary setting.**
* Reviews patient history, nursing/RRT intake, and exercise history/ETT prior to goal session.
* Assists Nursing and RRT with writing exercise prescriptions for patients entering the program and documentation of individual treatment plans.
* Reviews patient progress, evaluates compliance and patient response at regular intervals.
* Coordinates PAD program. Referrals, intake, and discharge. Coordinates with the cardiac nurses as appropriate. Maintains ITP and medication reconciliation Document’s exercise response in Scottcare. Is responsible for program growth and marketing.
Provides patient education.

*Minimum Education*
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Physical Therapy, or Allied Health
Preferred: Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology.
*Required Skills*
Certifications:
Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (may be obtained within 6 months of employment)
Required: X Current license to practice in the state of Virginia (Physical Therapists only)
*Minimum Work Experience*
Preferred: 2 years’ experience in cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation programs
*Required Skills*
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Ability to relate to patient/resident/customer and their families in a positive and supportive manner. Ability to design and implement exercise programs for a variety of different populations/ diagnoses. Ability to demonstrate proper use of exercise equipment.
